Franco de Gemini, who played harmonica on many film scores over a long period, has died in Italy. He was also an occasional film composer and, more recently, the founder and owner of Beat Records, which has issued a large number of Italian soundtracks on CD.
He played harmonica on many of the great Italian western scores (and plenty more besides), including some of Morricone’s. Probably his most indelible contribution came in Once Upon a Time in the West.
