The entire staff here at Movie Wave wishes all of you a very happy, healthy and merry Christmas. Have a lot of fun!
What’s my favourite Christmas score? Why, Mark McKenzie’s Blizzard, of course!
I hope you’ve found the reviews this year interesting. It’s been a horrendous year for me on a personal level and so the quantity of output here has suffered, but I believe I have still reviewed more film scores in 2010 than anyone else – and since I have long maintained that quantity is far more important than quality, I am pleased with this. If I happened to say something sensible at some point, it was probably an accident.
I haven’t yet reviewed my two favourite scores of 2010 but will do so before New Year’s Eve. (Fans of Henry Jackman’s Gulliver’s Travels are probably now salivating over the prospect of the prestige that might fall upon the score after being named one of James Southall’s two favourites of 2010. Please remember, Jackman fans, there might be something else which takes the prize.)
Happy Christmas, everyone.
Hmm. . .Inception and . . . something from MSM? Rombi’s Potiche? Horner’s 4th Horseman score? Kent’s Charlie St. Cloud? Or was this a clever bit of misdirection and it actually is the Jackman score?!?!
In any event, thanks for all the great reviews, and I can’t wait to see what next year brings.
And on a more personal note, I hope your 2011 is much better than your 2010. Have a happy Christmas!
Happy Christmas and thanks for another year of great reviews. Much appreciated!
A very merry belated Christmas to you too, James, and may we continue to cheerfully disagree for years to come! 😉
You have already declared Inception to be one of your two favorites…knowing you, the second will be utterly unpredictable. Somehow I doubt it’s Gulliver’s Travels because you’re not usually one to fall for guilty pleasures. Although…COULD it be TRON: Legacy? I have a hard time believing that but I never know with you! Heck, for all I know it’s The Social Network. I thought that score was utter garbage, but that’s an argument FOR your liking it.
I’ll keep myself in suspense. Happy New Year, and I’m looking forward to more quality reviews in the next year (which I hope goes better for you on a personal level).
Hello James,
Just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year and tell you that I enjoy your website a great deal. I also wanted to bring something to your attention, you may be aware of this already, but I was just reading your review of Mark McKenzie’s :Blizzard” score and I then went to see if was available on Amazon and when I went to read the reviews posted there, I found that someone had plagerized your review literally word-for-word. This person posted under the name of: William J. Phillips, Jr. I only checked this one, but I would assume it is safe to say there are probably others as well.
If you were already aware of this and/or you are not overly concerned about it then please disredard this post.
Thank you again James. I look forward to your reviews in the coming year.
Jeff
Haha, thanks for letting me know, Jeff!
